A center from Conyers, GA, Echols led the team to a 2-1 record last week.
Echols started the week scoring 29 points in a 70-45 win over Gardner-Webb, including 23 second-half points after the Catamounts only led by one at the break. She was 8-for-8 from the floor in the second half and recorded eight rebounds and three steals in the win.
Echols tallied 18 points and seven rebounds in a 72-47 loss to Furman on
December 6 before scoring a career-high 33 points in an 83-66 win over
Radford on December 9. She also had seven rebounds and scored 23 points
again in the second half to lead the team from an eight-point halftime lead
to a 17-point win.
On the week, Echols averaged 26.7 points per game, 7.3 rebounds and shot
.633 (31-49) from the floor. She was also 18-of-22 (.818) from the free

Bryant was also 7-of-8 from the free-throw line ... White leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.9 points and 8.9 rebounds ... Jessica Jank has 13 steals to her credit through eight games.
College of Charleston
The 80-45 victory over Limestone on December 8 was the largest margin of
victory for the Cougars since the 1990-91 season when Charleston defeated Charleston Southern 92-53 Feb. 9, 1991 ... In seven games the Cougars are averaging 79.3 points a game ... At that pace the Cougars will shatter the school Division I record of 73.2, set in 1989-90 ... The Cougars' 5-0 start at home is the best since the team went 6-0 at home in the 1988-89 season, the last year in NAIA ... That year Charleston went 11-1 at the Johnson Center.
The Lady Mocs did not play last week while taking exams. . Chattanooga is
still receiving votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Poll. . According to
collegerpi.com, UTC's RPI was up to #59 early this week, which is higher
than five schools from the SEC, ACC, and Big 10, 8 from the Pac-10, 9 from
the Big East and 11 from Conference USA. . After a 1-2 start, UTC has won
three straight, all on the road. . UTC is showing remarkable balance with 10 players averaging at least 10.5 minutes an no one playing more than 30. . Eight Lady Mocs are scoring at least 5.8 ppg. . Damita Bullock needs just eight points to move into UTC's career top 10 scoring list. She has 1,070 points in slightly more than 2 seasons. . Senior Heather Dykes ranks #2 on
UTC's career field goal percentage list at 53.4 percent, which is just
barely behind #1 Deidra Hinton (53.5 percent from 1991-94). . Chattanooga
resumes its monster 10-game road swing on Wednesday at Tennessee State and then the Lady Mocs travel to SEC foe Mississippi State.
Davidson edged Charlotte on December 6, 61-59 ... Senior Janna Magette
returns to her home state of Alabama this weekend to take on UAB ... It will be the first trip to the state of Alabama for the women's team ... Magette became just the seventh women in Wildcat history to reach the 1,000-point milestone ... She is quickly ascending the Davidson career scoring chart and now has 1,100 points in her Davidson career which puts her fifth all-time ... Senior Kelly Copland is now officially out for the season with an injured left knee ... She tore her ACL and suffered a partial tear of her meniscus in the team's season-opening victory over Army on Nov. 16 ... She will have surgery during the Christmas break in California.
The East Tennessee State Lady Bucs went 2-0 last week, defeating previously undefeated Wofford 76-74 on Dec. 5, and beating UNC Asheville 78-68 on Dec. 7 ... The Lady Bucs have run their record to 4-3, 1-0 in Southern Conference play, and have won three games in a row ... ETSU's three game winning streak is the team's longest such streak since a six game winning streak near the
end of the 1999-2000 season ... ETSU sophomore forward Lauren Trantham has
registered consecutive double-doubles, with 14 points and 13 rebounds against Wofford and 10 points and 13 rebounds against UNC Asheville ... The double doubles marked her third of the season and fifth of her career ... Trantham has pulled down double-digit rebounds in four straight games, averaging 13.5 rebounds per game in that span ... Trantham leads the Southern Conference with 10.4 rebounds per game ... Freshman guard Ashley
Reed has scored in double-digits in four consecutive games, averaging 16.5
points per game ... Reed is shooting 12-27 from three point range during
that span (.444) ... She leads the Lady Bucs with 13.4 points per game,
despite coming off of the bench in all seven games this season ... ETSU's
last two games have been very similar, with both Wofford and UNC Asheville shooting 50 percent from the floor in the first half ... However, ETSU would turn up the defensive heat in the second halves of both games, holding both

The win was Furman's biggest (25 points) in the league since Jan. 13, 2001, when the Lady Paladins doubled up Wofford 76-38 ... Lawrence earned the third double double of her career Thursday night with 16 points and 12 rebounds versus the Catamounts ... Lawrence scored 10 of her points and claimed nine of her rebounds in 14 minutes of second period action ... After ranking last in the league in scoring defense just 10 days ago, Furman has held its last two opponents to 57 (Clemson) and 47 (Western Carolina) points respectively ... Furman's opponents' scoring average has dropped from 80.8 points per game on Nov. 29 to 72.6 points per game going into this week's contest.
Georgia Southern dropped a 73-54 decision to Georgia on December 4 and a 71-54 loss to Maine at Stetson on December 8 ... The Lady Eagles rebounded with a 64-52 win over Stetson on December 9 to finish the week 1-2 ... After accumulating just six blocks in her first three seasons, Danna Simpson has
already recorded five in eight games this season ... Alie Rousseau continues her torrid three-point shooting rate as she has currently hit 25 in just eight games after connecting on 42 a season ago ... Rousseau has scored in double figures in seven of eight games, including a season-high 23 versus Georgia last week ... She leads Georgia Southern at 13.5 points per game ...
Shawnica Hill has stepped up her play for Georgia Southern as she recorded
the first double-double of her career with 11 points and 12 rebounds against
Stetson on Sunday ... Over the last three games, Hill is averaging 10.3
points and 7.3 rebounds per game over the last three contests.
The Spartans topped East Carolina 60-46 on December 8 in their lone game of
the week ... Senior guard Samika Foster tallied 10 points against ECU, and is 31 points away from becoming the 19th Spartan to score 1,000 career
points (She currently ranks 20th all-time) ... She also grabbed four steals for a career total of 244, breaking the all-time career steals record at UNCG of 242 set by three-time All-Southern Conference ChoRhonda Gwaltney (1997-2001) ... In all four Spartans victories this year, UNCG outrebounded its opponent, shot better than 40%, scored 60 points or more, and won at
home ... The Spartans won their second straight meeting against the Pirates, and are now 2-1 against ECU in Division I play (ECU still leads the all-time series 15-5) ... The Spartans moved to 4-0 at home with the win over ECU, just the second time UNCG has started out a season 4-0 in Fleming Gym, and the first since the 1998-99 season when they started out with eight straight wins at home before an 81-76 loss to Appalachian State.
Western Carolina dropped a 72-47 decision to SoCon opponent Furman on
December 6 but rebounded to top Radford 83-66 on December 9 ... Starting 2-guard Yoneko Allen injured her ankle in the Furman game and did not dress for the Radford game ... In her absence, Melissa Ervin played a season-high 25 minutes at Radford, handing out four assists with zero turnovers ... Western shot a season-high 53 percent from the field at Radford, after shooting a season-low 24 percent the previous game at Radford.
Wofford dropped a 76-74 overtime loss to ETSU on December 5 and a 77-53
decision to South Carolina on December 8 ... Freshman Stephanie Ripberger had a strong game against South Carolina, keeping Wofford in the game during the first half with 12 of the team's 20 points by going 4-of-6 on three-pointers ... The Lady Terriers actually outrebounded the Lady Gamecocks in the first half, but were hindered by 29.2% field goal shooting ... They improved in the second half, shooting 41.7%.
